BAN ON CIGARETTES NEAR PESHAWAR SCHOOLS
Syed Zahirul Islam, DC of Peshawar declared ban on cigarettes near schools and health centers in a view to avoid adverse health effects from smokers.
Deputy Commissioner takes this decision in meeting. DC ordered assistant commissioners also take check and balance on use of Sheesha smoking and cafes dealing with such activities.
Assistant and additional commissioners, anti tobacco provincial coordinator Ajmal Shah, held the meeting with a officials of police, health, education, transport departments and civil society representatives.
The participants condemned the use of tobacco and stressed the need of making awareness among students.
In this concern, special lectures should be delivered to students on adverse impacts of tobacco, banners should be advertised at public places, and bus terminals to discourage use of cigarettes, the officials of meeting suggested this.
Deputy Commissioner of Peshawar gave the directions to all additional and assistant commissioners to take action against smoke cafes and cigarette shops located within the vicinity of 50 meters of the educational institutions, health centre and public places.
