In 1990, Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Abbottabad was established after the Peshawar Board was break-up into other boards to provide the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with quality of Education which wasn’t possible with just one educational board in the whole province.

The board follows the KPK BISE Act 1990 which provides the board with complete sets of instruction on how to run the Board as well as rules and regulations. Other than this act the controlling authority which is the governor of the Province also have the powers to direct the board. The board is an independent and is working on its own building located at the Murree Road, Abbottabad.

The districts under the board’s jurisdiction are as follows:

  1. Haripur
  2. Abbottabad
  3. Mansehra
  4. Battagram
  5. Kohistan

The board is responsible for the conduction of annually examination for matric and intermediate levels in the schools and colleges affiliated with it. As the work load for the board has increased for the Matric section, the Conduction section of the board has been divided into two separate sections. First one deals with the Matric and second one deals with the intermediate.

The board’s objectives like the other education boards of the country are to conduct examination at Inter and Secondary levels, prescribing the courses for the examination, conditions for the affiliation of schools and colleges, inspections of the institutes affiliated with it and announcing and granting the certificates after examination.

Abbottabad Board is responsible for the conduction of Matric (10th Class) exam once a year. And normally the examination is conducted by the board in the month of March. The date sheet for the examination is made available one month prior the exams and is available on the official site of the board.

The date sheet for the 2016 matric examination has already been declared by the board in the month of July and according to it the exams for Matric will start from 12th of March and will continue till the 29th of March. After the Practical examination are conducted for Matric from 4th April to 9th April, the board will announce the result for Matric after two or three month gap. The result is expected to be declared by the board in the month of July or August.

Once the result is declared by the board, it will be available on the official site of the board which is Students who have appeared for the examination are expected to keep in touch with the website about their result and once it is out they will be able to check it using their Roll numbers.
